The bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan

The U.S. and Japan had been angry at each other for decades and it was impossible for things not to eventually rise into a war. The Attack on Pearl Harbor caused America’s entry to WW2 which led to the launch of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Japan attacked Pearl Harbor for more than one reason and these reasons are what we are here to talk about. In the next couple paragraphs I will talk about why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. To start, Japan wanted to expand to China. They wanted to do this to solve problems and to take over the Chinese import market. In 1937 Japan declared war on China. America was against the war and put up trade embargoes and economic sanctions. The oil embargo that America organized with the British and the Dutch caused a huge problem for Japan. These nations imported 90% of Japan’s oil. Without oil Japan’s military could not operate and war efforts would have to stop. Negotiations had been going for months between Washington and Tokyo. But without any solution Japan attacked. This is unfortunately only one of the reasons the Japan attacked though.Japan was also looking to expand to the Dutch East Indies and Malaya. They wanted to conquer territories that could provide important natural resources such as oil and rubber. But Japan feared that the American Navy would attempt to stop them and get in there way. So Japan launched a surprise attack against most of Americas fleet. They were hoping to takeover the Philippines and Malaya when America was recovering from the attack. They attacked the Philippines and Malaya while Pearl Harbor was underway. As I have showed you in the last couple of paragraphs Japan had multiple reasons to attack Pearl Harbor. The most of which centered around getting natural resources like oil and rubber. Over all though the attack on Pearl Harbor was a flex of strength to tell America to accept defeat and that they are stronger. We still honor the brave veterans that served at Pearl Harbor 75 years ago and thank them for all of their sacrifices. So I have told you why I think Japan attacked Pearl Harbor but what do you think?
